Question about Multiplan and French Multiplan list

Hello everyone.

I have the questions related to Multiplan 4.2.
4.2 was the last released European Multiplan (1989-1990).
I'm come across to only 4.2 French(France)-version, no more languages, but I heard about EN and DE versions.

My questions:
1) FR-version are use a copy protection. It's a common situation to Microsoft France-software from late 80s (Excel 2.1FR, Word 4.0FR, WinWord 1.1FR/1.1a FR are use protection too).
Some the unconfirmed sources talking, that another 4.2 versions used protection too.
Know someone about EN/DE versions? It's true or don't?

2) Some the (unconfirmed) sources talking about 4.1 version too.
I know only about the Kanji-Japanese 4.11 version, don't any another.
European 4.1 is the myth too, or true does exist minor update for 4.01/4.01A?

3) Does exist the FR-versions of Multiplan 4.0/4.01, or don't? If yes, used it's the copy protection too, or don't (the English-version don't).

Thank you for any answers.

Best regards.

–German.

Hi.

Sorry for the double-post.

I'm trying to made list French versions of Multiplan.
There are currently three versions available online:
1.07 – Thomson OEM, for TO8, TO8D, TO9+ computers
1.20 – IBM OEM
2.01a – version for DOS with copy protection, working (SCP images)
3.01N – network version
3.04 – version for DOS with copy protection
4.20 – version for DOS and OS/2 with copy protection.

I'm sure there were other French versions.
For example, there are international versions 1.10, 2.02, 2.03, 3.03, 3.04 (confirmed), and 4.01. I think they were also released in French, but have not yet been found.
There could be other versions.

I want to find:
– Screenshots and photos of disks of other versions not yet found.
– Disk images or files of unknown versions.

If you have any Multiplan disks please check them out.
Some versions are labeled in a non-obvious way.

One more question.
Has anyone met the French localization of Chart for DOS?

Best regards.
–German

P.S. I renamed the theme because I expanded it. Sorry

Hello,
While testing a few floppy disks with a Thomson TO16 PC-XT compatible, I discovered that a copied floppy have Multiplan 3 Fr on it.

This is the backup of the floppies (first one is program disk, second one is utility disk) :
Multiplan_30_FR.zip
(664.69 Kio) Téléchargé 70 fois
*.IMD => backup with ImageDisk 1.18
*.BIN => .IMD converted to .BIN with ImageDisk

I did not manage to install Multiplan on HDD nor use it directly with floppy. It seems protected...

Hello.
It's the amazing find!
It's actually version 3.04, PROGRAM disk dated by 08/01/1988.
UTILS disk dated by 07/01/1987. I think, the UTILS disk got from earlier version (may be 3.03).
Microsoft sometimes didn't update the supplemental disks in minor releases. The version 3.04 was last European/USA Multiplan 3.
I did not manage to install Multiplan on HDD nor use it directly with floppy. It seems protected...
Yes, you're right.
It's used the copy protection.
For some reason, many Microsoft products of those years for France were copy protected (I know about WinWord 1.1, 1.1a, Excel 2.1, Word for DOS 4).
If I'm right, then there is the same protection.
I will try to emulate it with one trick.
If it works, I'll tell you how to do it.
Did you image from original disks or from backup disks?

Thank you so much for this rare version!

Hello,
The image comes from backup disks (with write protection sticker on)
I have created the image before trying to use the backup disk to install Multiplan.

This copie was already used, and need to be cracked to work.
A while back I had the trick to remove the mark that the disk was already used, forgot how... It seems that there is a special sector that need to be changed...

Hi all.

There is a new find related to this topic.
Thanks to callmejack from the WWPC forum.
I think you will be interested.
French version of Multiplan 2.01a!

There are some oddities:
– The program version number is indicated as 2.00 (no 2.01, no 2.01a)
– Dates of files 01/01/1980.

In fact, it looks strange. However, it is the French Multiplan 2 that works.
