Purchasing a TO7/70
Hi,
I'm in the UK and am considering purchasing a TO7/70. Any tips of what to check for when purchasing from eBay would be most useful.
I obviously want to check a BASIC Cartridge is included.
During my investigations I have found that some have dark (TO7 type keys), others light colour full keys. What's the difference please?
Finally, does the TO7/70 have SCART?
Thanks

Re: Purchasing a TO7/70
Hi
It has no difference except the kind of keyboard.
To7-70 have a SCART.
(but there's a difference between a TO7 and a TO7-70)

Re: Purchasing a TO7/70
The TO7/70 comes with a mechanical keyboard or a rubber keyboard. The mechanical keyboard is like a desktop keyboard, the rubber keyboard is like a laptop keyboard. It is very different and much better than the TO7's touch sensitive keyboard.

Re: Purchasing a TO7/70
Did the TO7/70 ship with BASIC 1.0 as default? I'm surprised at this, as it doesn't seem to support the 16 colours from BASIC. Was BASIC 128 an optional extra?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Purchasing a TO7/70
I am not a TO specialist, but I think the To7/70 can use only Basic 1.0. Basic 128 has been selled with the "next" Thomson génération (To9, Mo6).
The "rubber" keyboard is to me nicer than the mechanical one, but less easy to use...

Re: Purchasing a TO7/70
yes, that's it..
BASIC 1.0 when you bought the Computer.
BASIC 128 was a software sold like other software : no pack computer+soft sold together as I can remember..

Re: Purchasing a TO7/70
Thanks everyone. It seems very odd to supply a computer with a version of BASIC that didn't support the new extended features of the machine.
I suppose it's like the Texas Instruments TI-99 with it's optional extended BASIC
I use BASIC 128 when emulating the TO7/70 in the excellent dcmoto.

Re: Purchasing a TO7/70
This is not true. The BASIC 128 was designed especially for the TO7/70. It allows to use all the memory of the computer, which BASIC 1.0 does not allow.
The BASIC 1.0 was used with the TO7/70 for compatibility with old TO7 programs.

Re: Purchasing a TO7/70
There is also the MegaROM T2 which provides both basic 1.0 and 128 as well as many other softwares.Leraptor06 a écrit : ↑30 août 2022 11:48 Hello,

Re: Purchasing a TO7/70
The BASIC 128 was designed especially for the TO7/70. Re: Purchasing a TO7/70

Re: Purchasing a TO7/70

Re: Purchasing a TO7/70
490 or 550 French Francs seems exceptionally good value Daniel. At the time the British pound was worth around 10 French Francs so that's around the equivalent of £49 to £55 British pounds. At the same time the Sinclair Spectrum was £125 British Pounds.
