New game project
Salut a tous,
I have been working on a new game project for several 8 bit computers among them the Thomson machines, C64, Amstrad cpc, Matra Alice and Oric. I hope that posting this here will keep me motivated to continue the project.

Re: New game project
I'm impressed by the diversity of machines aimed, but i'm confident it will probably be great.
Waiting for the graphics appeal on the Alice, but is it for the 4K (TRS-10 clone) or the 32/90 flavor?

That's wonderful W_oo_d! The thomson's gfx looks very promising and better than C64 in my opinion. But the Oric's ones are also very nice especially regarding the limitations of the gfx mode on that platform (read here). By the way, which platform is the most advanced at the moment?

The project was originally for the To8 so that's the one that is more advanced.__sam__ a écrit : ↑21 mars 2018 16:51 That's wonderful W_oo_d! Re: New game project
Too bad, but at least, you will touch a larger audience.
Don't know if it is because of the still image, but colors seem weird on some of the captures you posted, especially the sort of crab, that is red on most and seem green-ish on one.

Re: New game project
Due to some graphical limitations on some platforms like the oric with its serial attributes and the MO5 with two colours per 8x1 attributes it is impossible to get more colours for the sprites or there will occur the famous colour clash. On those machines I am using yellow and cyan on alternate lines, it is possible to use one single colour like all white or all yellow etc but I though that this way looked a bit better.

Re: New game project
It looks really very nice on Thomson machine, congratulations and bon courage BTW, what happened to the previous game ?
Re: New game project
I was not very happy how it was coming along so I have it stalled. Actually I have started many many projects. This is just a hobby and I enjoy starting game projects. It is a hobby after all. But I want to finish these and if I get enough people interested I might finish some of these versions.

Re: New game project
very nice! Keep us informed about your projects!
Re: New game project
Meanwhile I got sidetracked *again* and started one more project.
This time smooth multi-directional scrolling on the Thomson (TO8/MO6), it can move at one pixel rate or more at 50hz. And the scroll window is not that small 28 bytes by 128 lines.
See it in action here: Video
The video is just for you to have an idea as it doesn't make justice to the engine, It is completely smooth on the machine, I grabed the video at low fps.
I am sorry for the graphics but they were meant only to test the engine.
To use this in a game project I will have to slow it down to 25hz as I need one more frame for the sprites.
