THOMSON MO6 SOUND CARD
Good morning everybody,
in your opinion, is it possible to build a sound card expansion based on sound programmable chip ?

Re: THOMSON MO6 SOUND CARD
Have a look at the TripleX project discussed in this thread.

Thonson MO6 hardware question.
When i write a data from address A7C0 to A7CF, the gate-array reset the A7CX signal ?

Re: THOMSON MO6 SOUND CARD
For me this scheme can't works because the R/W signal is missing.
A write operation can occurs during a Read operation due to this missing signal
And the 74373 is not necessary because the 76489 is only used during write operation.
No read operation can be done.
This scheme could be simplified.
My proposal is the following Jacques

Re: THOMSON MO6 SOUND CARD
Merci, le / RW vous avez raison, mais la raison d'utiliser le 74373 est que le bus de données doit rester stable pendant 32 cycles d'horloge

Re: THOMSON MO6 SOUND CARD
Hello
Excellent idea I wish they had done that in the time, we would have had music and sfx in the games
I started something similar a while ago: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=10848
but had no time to go further than what is in the post.
May I ask why the SN76489 and not e.g. the AY-3?

Re: THOMSON MO6 SOUND CARD
Hi,
we have got the same idea. SN76489 because is the first i have found on google, searching sound programmable chip. I have seen the datasheet, and i have chosen it for its properties. I think it should be simple to build and program with asm or Poke instructions.
I have also seen YM2612 but it has too much registers.

This is an example, by searching on youtube channel.
Now i have got all components ill build the cards as fast as possible.
After i'll test the board with stm32 microcontroller, after follow the test on pc 128.

Re: THOMSON MO6 SOUND CARD
I'm impressed, you already have built it!
You have 19x2 connectors I can see
the tunes are good, Sonic are good memories
Did you think to inject the sound to the sound pin of the extension bus, so that the Thomson will mix it with its own sound and output it to Peritel?

Re: THOMSON MO6 SOUND CARD
no, i have only soldered the dip sockets, i have to connect all the wires. Yes i decide to connect the audio output to expansion port.
Re: THOMSON MO6 SOUND CARD
Great! I'm impatient to see it working!

Re: THOMSON MO6 SOUND CARD
when i have any news i'll post a demo with results.
I hope i haven''t any signals timing issues.
